Reacting to a letter written by Chief Minister Harish Rawat to the State’s MPs appealing to raise the State’s issues during the debate on the rail and general budgets in Parliament, the State BJP has alleged that the Chief Minsiter is writing such letters only to grab media attention. The party leaders said that the BJP will do everything for the betterment of the State.
Talking to The Pioneer, State BJP president Tirath Singh Rawat said that Chief Minister Rawat knows how to grab media attention which is why he keeps writing such letters. While he was Union Cabinet Minister he wrote hundreds of letters to the then Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna. Now he is using similar tricks against the BJP-led NDA regime.
Even lok Sabha MP and ex-Chief Minister Bhagat Singh Koshiyari said that Uttarakhand was carved out by the Atal Behari Vajpayee-led NDA regime in 2000 so the State is the BJP’s baby and the NDA even gave an industrial package for 10 years to nurture the baby. When the Congress-led UPA regime was at the Centre then he was a Union Cabinet Minister but he did not bother to do anything for the betterment of the State. Now when the BJP-led NDA Government came into power then he expects everything so soon from a 45 days old NDA regime.
The party leaders said the Congress allegation that the BJP Government has ignored Uttarakhand in the railway and general budgets is totally wrong because in the railway budget their Government has assured to connect the Char Dhams with rail route and in the general budget they have decided to open a national study centre for the Himalayas. With this experts will give their recommendation about how to save the Himalayas and the people will not become victims of nature.
It would be pertinent to mention here that to grab the attention of the Prime Minister, Finance Minister and the Railway Minister, who allegedly failed to address Uttarakhand’s issue in the railway and general Budget 2014-15, Chief Minister Harish Rawat wrote a letter on July 12 to the Members of Parliament of the state to raise the State’s issues, especially special financial package of Rs4,000 cr for the reconstruction of disaster-affected areas of the State, and green bonus during discussion of the budget.
Even the Chief Minister has also sent a copy of the letter to all seven MPs including Bhagat Singh Koshiyari, Maj Gen Bhuwan Chandra Khanduri and Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, MPs Ajay Tamta, Mala Rajya lakshmi Shah, Tarun Vijay and Mahendra Singh Mahra to raise these issues during the dabate on the budget.
