Samajwadi party blames Mayawati over riot victims

Tuesday, 31 December 2013 | PNS | Lucknow

Describing the Bahujan Samaj Party as a B team of the Bharatiya Janata Party, the Samajwadi Party said that by raising concern over riot victims, former Chief Minister Mayawati was trying to win the sympathy of Muslims with an eye on the coming lok Sabha election.

“People should beware of the ploy being adopted by BSP leaders. By raising the issue of riot victims, Mayawati has proved that the BSP is a B team of the BJP. She is expressing concern only to woo Muslims towards BSP but this ploy stands exposed,” Samajwadi Party state spokesman Rajendra Chaudhary said in a statement issued here on Monday.

He said Mayawati alleged that other parties were taking donation from capitalists but she did not reveal how many thousand crore she had taken as birthday gift from legislators and members of Parliament.

“People of the state have not forgotten the brutal incident when a BSP legislator had beaten a PWD engineer to death over ‘chanda’ (donation),” Chaudhary said.

Hitting out at Mayawati, the SP state spokesman said that people still remembered the previous BSP Government for the wastage of public money on memorials and parks.

“In sharp contrast, the Samajwadi Party Government is using public money on development work. Farmers loans have been waived and scholarships have been announced for girls,” he said.

Chaudhary said the Opposition was spreading a canard against the Samajwadi Party Government to gain some political points.
