Congress leader Rahul Gandhi assured of doing every possible thing to fulfill the dreams of Indian Air Force (IAF) officer Akhilesh Kumar Singh, who wanted to provide good education to his children.
Congress Member of Parliament gave the above assurance to the family members of the martyr after calling them at their native village to condole the death on Saturday afternoon. He met the family members of Akhilesh Kumar Singh, who died in chopper crash while making rescue operation in Uttarakhand.
The Congress vice president arrived at Fursatganj airport here and drove directly to Pure Nago hamlet of Deeh locality in Amethi to meet the family of the junior warrant officer. He paid his condolences and met martyr's father Vikramjit Singh and officer’s widow Anju Singh assured all possible help to the bereaved family. When the family members pointed out that the deceased officer was very keen on providing good education to his children, the local MP said he would do everything to ensure it. Giving his contact number Rahul Gandhi asked the family to talk to him directly in case of any problem faced by them. He also directed local leaders to remain in touch with the family members and help them to come out of the trauma. Rahul Gandhi later attended the cremation made with full state honour.
Earlier the body of the martyr was brought to his native village in Air Force plane in the forenoon. Thousands of local residents and villagers from the neighbouring hamlets reached to pay their last homage to the martyr who fight to save life of others till he breathed his last. It may be mentioned that an Indian Air Force helicopter crashed on June 25 during a rescue mission in Uttarakhand. All 20 people, including its five crew members, were killed in the mishap. Two of the IAF personnel who fell martyr belonged to the State.
