Punjab Forest and Wildlife minister Surjit Kumar Jayani on Tuesday appealed to people to 'adopt' zoo animals by bearing their food cost for one year.
While presiding over the first meeting of Punjab Zoo Development Society's Governing council, Jayani said 52 animals have been 'adopted' by the public in the State to date. He said that anyone can 'adopt' a wild animal in a zoo by depositing the cost of one year's food for it. Jayani also instructed the officers present in the meeting to ensure supply of safe water to the animals.
