In a bizarre case, a Muslim cleric was arrested from Saharanpur for kidnapping a minor girl from Budhana locality of Muzaffarnagar. The victim was also rescued from his custody.
Reports said the cops of Muzaffanagar raided a Madarsa in Gangoh locality of Saharanpur and arrested the cleric Abdul Raheem on Thursday night. They also rescued the abducted girl from his clutches. It may be mentioned that on August 21, the 10-year-old girl was kidnapped from Budhana area here of Muzaffarnagar when she went out in connection with work. The family members suspecting the hands of above cleric lodged a case against him but the cops took no cognizance of the matter. However, on
Thursday when the local residents staged a protest they swung into action and rescued the girl. Abdul Raheem was produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate KP Singh’s court who send him to jail on 14- days judicial remand. The victim was also handed over in the custody of her parents. Now the cops will get her statement recorded before a magistrate before filing a charge-sheet in the matter against Abdul Raheem.
Meanwhile two property dealers were charred to death when their car caught fire after hitting a truck on Delhi- Saharanpur Highway in village in Shamli district. The two property dealers from Haryana's Bhiwani district, identified as Shivkant (27) and Shakti (28), were returning from Haridwar after taking a holy dip in Ganga river on Thursday evening. When they were crossing Sikka hamlet their car collided head-on with a truck and caught fire killing both of them on the spot. The truck driver abandoned the vehicle and escaped from the spot. The cops who rushed to the spot shifted both the bodies for post- mortem examination and also registered a case in the matter.
