Meenakshi lekhi says Khan humiliated being Muslim

Tuesday, 30 April 2013 | Pioneer News Service | Lucknow

Criticizing the US government for harassing Indians during their visit, BJP national spokesperson Meenakshi lekhi said that UP minister Azam Khan's version that he was humiliated because he is a Muslim was absolutely  unacceptable.

'' The BJP protests harassment of any Indian in foreign countries but we do not discriminate on communal or religious lines," she said while adding that Khan's refering to his being a Muslim for the humiliation proves his communal mindset.

Addressing press persons at the state BJP office on Monday, lekhi said that the so-called secular leaders did not oppose when the US cancelled the visa of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, so why is all the fuss being made when Azam Khan had to face humiliation.

Ridiculing Khan's allegations of blaming External Affairs minister Salman Khursid for the incident, the BJP leader said that no one can even think of interfering into the security system in the USA.

" In the USA, the government and police work separately and independently and it was not like Uttar Pradesh where politicians run the police system" observed lekhi. Suggesting a tit for tat policy against China likedecreasing imports and stopping export of raw materials, lekhi said that by controlling the trade, India could thwart any armed aggression of China.

Demanding that Sarabjit Singh should be handed over to the Indian government for treatment, the BJP spokesperson said there was nothing similar between Kasab and Sarabjit as Kasab was hanged on a court's judgement while there was nothing such against Sarabajit.
