The security forces nabbed a suspected Maoist at Donga Marcha village under Kuchai police station area of Saraikela-Kharsawan. The forces also recovered some improvised explosive devices (IED) used for blast and some cartridges of self loading rifles (SlR).

Deputy Inspector General of Police (Kolhan) A K Singh on Thursday informed that a suspected Maoist has been nabbed and some explosives and cartridges were recovered during the massive combing operation in the adjoining forest areas of Saraikela-Kharsawan, Khunti district.

Singh said that during the joint combing operation of the State police, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Jharkhand Jaguar Force arrested a suspected Maoist.

Police sources have informed that on the basis of the leads provided by the arrested Naxalite the joint team of police and paramilitary forces are raiding at different places in Seraikela Kharsawan area to nab other Maoists too.

“Based on the inputs the operation the operation was started and we suspect that during the operation a Naxal squad managed to flee. We want to raid a few more places in the naxal infested area of Araki, Tamar and Kuchai before winding up,’ the DIG said.

Meanwhile, from today police and paramilitary forces have started frisking commuters in the bordering areas. At some places common people are also being interrogated by police and paramilitary force on suspicion.

Forces have been deployed in strategic locations.

Police said that the security has been beefed up in the area and they were keeping strict vigil on movement of the Naxlites.

“There has been a substantial increase in Maoist activities in this. We are not much concerned about small acts of violence because these activities can be controlled by us, but the bigger attacks are worrisome,” said a security official.
