A bilateral total hip replacement has been done successfully for the first time in the history of the Kanungo Institute of Diabetes Specialities (KIDS) Multispeciality Diabetes Hospital here.
A 40-year-old housewife from West Bengal, who was suffering from advanced burnt-out rheumatoid arthritis for the last six months, underwent the bilateral total hip replacement.
The surgery was performed by a team of doctors led by orthopaedic & spine specialist Dr Sanatan Behera, Dr GS Pattnaik and Dr. BN Das (anesthetist). The patient walked out without any pain just three days after surgery.
The cost of the surgery is cheaper by 40 per cent compared to any other corporate hospital in Bhubaneswar.
