The colourful coffee cup making contest and coffee slogan writing contest marked the International Coffee day with the participation of more than 200 school children across various schools of Chandigarh on Sunday. The contest was held at Sukhna lake as a part of world tourism week celebrations in Chandigarh.
On the occasion, children got an opportunity to showcase their talent with fun loving painting contests related to the Coffee theme “Design your Coffee Cup Contest” and “Coffee Slogan Writing Contest” wherein children were provided white cups to be painted or designed as per their own choice with colours or accessories.
The colourful coffee cups of prize winners were later put up in the coffee shops of Hotel Mountview and Hotel Shivalikview to give a glimpse of the artwork of children amongst larger audience
This year, the CITCO has taken unique initiative to invite Coffee producing countries as well as countries like Turkey which promote unique coffee culture across the World.
These countries have set up a special Coffee pavilion at the International Coffee Festival in Hotel Mountview.
The International Coffee Festival will not only showcase their culture and coffee traditions but would also provide an opportunity for the valued clientele to taste the variants of coffee.
The participating nations include Ethiopia (where coffee was born) Kenya, Indonesia, Bolivia and Turkey. The Indian Coffee Board has also brought in the coffee products which are available in the country and some on these coffee products which are sold across the world.
The International Coffee Festival is getting tremendous response from coffee lovers amidst participation by foreign countries alongwith happening activities like Fashion show on theme Coffee, piano performance, Coffee tasting, Coffee Talk, live painting and screening of films on Coffee etc. A coffee quiz held at Elante Mall also got overwhelming response on Sunday.
Foreign students performed various dances at Sukhna lake on Sunday evening in their traditional costumes. Also, Punjabi musical nite at New lake Sector 42 was organized.
On the concluding ceremony of world tourism week celebrations on Monday, there will be folk dances to culminate the week long festivities spread over the city.
During the ongoing world tourism week, illumination of prominent buildings i.e Open Hand Monument, le Corbusier Centre, Museum and Art Gallery has been done. Special discounts on food/accommodation can also be availed at CITCO hotels.
