Flood continues to play havoc in Uttar Pradesh as over gushing water of swollen rivers have inundated hundreds of villages claiming three more lives taking the toll to 243 across Uttar Pradesh.
According to reports, three people have lost their lives in Mahoba district, where incessant rainfall led to collapse of the house. Officials say as many as 400 house have collapsed in the past two days due to heavy rains. In Jalaun, heavy downpour has caused flood situation and inundated several villages. Central Water Commission (CWC) said on Friday that floods have washed away standing crops in 15 districts.
River Ganga was overflowing by 0.75 meters above danger mark at Phafamau in Allahabad, and above 0.46 meters in Mirzapur. The river was 0.03 meters above the danger mark in Varanasi and 1.8 meters and 3.5 meters above the red mark in Ghazipur and Ballia respectively. Similarly, Sharda river was 0.40 meter above the red mark at Paliyakala (Kheri), while Ghaghra was 0.216 meters above the danger level in Elginbridge (Barabanki).
River Yamuna was also in spate and was recorded to be flowing near the danger mark at Chillaghat in Banda. In Allahabad, Army personnel were looking after all the embankments in city surrounded by two rivers.
