Two people committed suicide in the city on Friday, including a dental surgery student. Anukrita (22), a second-year student of Bachelor in Dental Surgery (BDS) at Dr Harvansh Singh Judge Institute of Dental Sciences and Hospital at Sector 25, hanged herself from the ceiling fan at her residence at ITBP flats in Sector 32.
She apparently hanged herself as she was declared failed in her result of second-year examination of BDS, said Harminder Singh, Additional SHO, PS Sector 34.
Anukrita lived in the city with her family. However, she was alone at home on Friday as her family was away to lucknow for a function. The deceased was noticed hanging by a neighbour.
She was rushed to GMCH Sector 32 where doctors declared her brought dead. No suicide note was recovered from the spot, the SHO added.
In another incident, Prakash Kumar (27) was found hanging at his rented accommodation at Raipur Khurd. Prakash, a native of Uttarakhand, worked as a security guard at British library. No suicide note was found from the spot by police. However, neighbours claimed that Prakash was in stress.
