CS stresses on co-ordination between RSAC, depts

Chief secretary Jawed Usmani stressed for more co-ordination between the departments with Remote Sensing Applications Centre (RSAC) for better development of the State as well as proper use of the available technology.

He directed that in the next two months all the departments using the RSAC should be given more and proper knowledge of the technology by holding seminars. Besides he asked to hold meeting of Programme Implementation Committee for Space Based Information Support for Decentralised Planning (SIS-DP) project at least twice a year.

Chairing the second meeting of  Programme Implementation Committee of SIS-DP here at Shastri Bhawan on Saturday, Usmani said that a list should be prepared so any of the Government departments could make proper use of RSAC services. He said that Department wise meeting should be also held under his chairmanship so that use of latest technology could be made for development and progress of the State. He said that a separate meeting be called of Revenue Department for making digitisation of maps of all villages and hamlets of the State.

later principal secretary (Science and Technology), Dr HS Das, who was also present in the meeting highlighted the better and more proper used of technologies available with them under SIS-DP. Director of the Remote Sensing Application Centre, PN Shah elaborated that how they used the technology for mapping of roads, canals, rails, drainage and water bodies in Bundelkhand region. He said that they were also using the technology for proper location of places for agriculture, forests, ground water, land use and urban management, flood control, management of sodic land, projects of civil engineering etc. Besides other senior officers, meeting was also attended by principal secretary (Home) RM Srivastava, and PS (Planning) Sanjeev Mittal.

Meanwhile chief secretary also called for more development of forests areas by better use of third phase of Sodic land Reclamation Project. He also set the target of improving 29 sodic districts and 2 sodic forests covering 1.30,000 hectare of sodic lands by the end of 2015. He claimed that by proper implementation 2.40 lakh villagers will be benefited out of it.

Usmani was heading the State Steering Committee formed for proper implementation of  third phase of Sodic land Reclamation Project here on Saturday evening. He asked the officers to expedite the project and take work completion certificate from pradhans belonging to 90 identified Hot Sodic Areas. He said that as per the demand for proper implementation of the project, three officers of the Agriculture Department should be provided on deputation. He also called to go for audit of medicines distributed to villagers during Rs Cattle Health Camps" organised under the above project. Usmani said that proper use of all resources should be made for development of sodic land so no hurdle could be created in funding of the project by World Bank.
