Though the mandatory vaccines needed for the Haj pilgrims have been delivered to UP State Haj Committee (UPSHC), see the apathy, only 50 percent of total required had been given so far.
As per Haj visa rules, all selected Pilgrims (2 years above pilgrims) are required to possess a certificate of inoculation of single dose of cerebrospinal Meningitis vaccine. They must get themselves inoculated against Meningitis and obtain vaccination certificate on the Health and Training (HAT) Card before proceeding for the Embarkation Point.
The certificate should be signed by District Health Officer. Earlier, till August 27 the vaccines were not delivered and SHC officials were informed it will arrive in a day or two. The vaccines did arrived at Ghaziabad Chief Medical Officer's (CMO) office but just half of total required in the state, which was around 40,000 vaccines.
The vaccines are delivered in Karnal (Haryana), from where the HCoI dispatches it to SHCs. In UP, the vaccines are first collected in Ghaziabad and then dispatched to Chief Medical Officer’s (CMO) office in every district for administering it to the pilgrims.
"We have got only 20,000 from Karnal which had been dispatched on the directions of UPSHC. The officials at Karnal had not informed us any specific date when rest of vaccines will be delievred," said CMO (Ghaziabad).
Haj Office, Tanveer Ahmad confirmed that they have recived 50 percent of total vaccines required in the state. The same had been disrbuted in all the districts of the state to start administring vaccination to Pilgrims as of now. "We are hopeful rest of the vaccines needed for Haj pilgrims will arrive by Monday and same will be distibuted as per ratio," he said.
The UPSHC had sent letters to all the concerning authritoes in the state to start the vaccination program from Saturday and as rest of required vaccines will be recived, it will be delivered in districts. The SHC and District Administration make such arrangements for inoculation of the Pilgrims at the Haj house too.
