Zydex unveils India’s first silicate mineral paint to shield monsoon damage

Zydex Paints has launched India’s first silicate mineral paint technology, aiming to disrupt the Rs 93,000-crore domestic paint market with a solution targeting monsoon-related wall damage.
“India’s construction ecosystem is moving towards materials that deliver durability, sustainability and long-term protection,” said Dr Ajay Ranka, Chairman & MD, Zydex Group. “We see significant opportunity to scale this category further,” he added. Zydex reports strong market acceptance with repeat purchases and growing interest from builders and architects.
Every monsoon, buildings across India face damp walls, peeling paint, seepage and algae growth as humidity weakens surfaces from within. Unlike conventional paints that form a surface film, Zydex’s technology chemically bonds with the substrate, creating a breathable surface that allows trapped vapour to escape. This helps reduce dampness and surface deterioration linked to high moisture.
The move taps into a shift toward performance-led coatings. While decorative paints still lead the market, demand is rising for solutions offering durability and lifecycle value.
In Europe, silicate paints hold a roughly 2 percent share. Similar adoption in India could create a Rs 2,000-crore segment, significant for a market exposed to humidity and harsh weather.
