Youth beaten to death in Maharashtra's Hingoli

A 22-year-old man was allegedly beaten to death by three persons in Maharashtra's Hingoli district on suspicion that he had tipped off police about an unspecified matter, officials said on Thursday.

The incident took place around midnight on Wednesday in Basmat town.

The victim, identified as Ganesh Digambar Gundale, was in the Somwari Peth area when the three accused allegedly accosted him and assaulted him with stones and sticks before fleeing, police said.

Gundale collapsed at the spot and was later taken to a hospital, where doctors declared him dead, they said.

Police have registered a case based on a complaint filed by an associate of the victim and are investigating the incident.
