VinFast to introduce VF MPV7 in India

VinFast the automotive arm of Vietnam’s largest conglomerate Vin Group announced that they are going to launch their third product for the Indian market, the seven-seat VF MPV7 in India. Pre-bookings for the electric seven seat multi-person vehicle have opened and can be made for INR 21,000 and the vehicle will be officially launched on April 15.
VinFast launched operations in India last year with the VF6 and VF7 electric SUVs last year and the Vietnamese brand has tasted success already. In March 2026, they registered 691 vehicles in India accord to VAHAN data which excludes Telangana.
The VF MPV7 will also be sold in a commercial variant called ‘Limogreen’ for the taxi segment. Sales will start concurrently and this product will also be used by VinFast to begin their own electric vehicle taxi operation ‘GSM’ later this year.
Speaking to the media, Tapan Ghosh, CEO, VinFast India said that the company’s success in India will continue with the MPV7. “We have learned that Indian consumers want ‘Peace of Mind’ when they purchase an electric vehicle and thus we are offering a ten-year battery warranty on our vehicles and free charging at our sister company VGreen charging stations until March 2029. We have also tied up with Hindustan Petroleum for charging stations.”
To address the fear of high depreciation of electric vehicles, Ghosh added that VinFast was offering industry leading levels of resale value. “We are offering assured residual value of 75 percent after two years and 55 percent after five years”, he said while addressing the media. The company which has committed to a $500 million investment for a new manufacturing facility in Tamil Nadu’s Toothikudi is going to enhance their offerings going forward as well, as well as their sales and service network. “Our sales network for four wheelers will expand to 75 outlets by the end of the year”, Ghosh said while adding that VinFast will explore launching more products such as the microcar VF3 and the luxury SUV VF9 in the coming months.
However Ghosh did confirm that VinFast will bring their two-wheeler business to India in the coming months and is also exploring opportunities in the electric bus business with new urban bus contracts coming soon.
VinFast which was founded in 2017 has rapidly become the largest carmaker in Vietnam, with a 36 percent market share and delivered 175,000 cars in the country in 2025 overtaking the likes of Toyota and Hyundai.
They have also rapidly expanded operations across Asia with sales growth in Indonesia and the Philippines, but had to scale back ambitions in the US market like many other global carmakers due to American consumers not wanting to go down the electric route. VinFast sees a major growth opportunity in India with the government aiming for 30 percent of car sales becoming electric vehicles by 2030.
