Vijay Chairs TVK MLAs Meeting After 108 Seat Victory in Tamil Nadu Elections 2026

Vijay, chief of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK),chaired a meeting of newly elected party MLAs following the party’s strong performance in the Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections 2026.
The meeting comes a day after TVK emerged as the single-largest party with 108 seats. Vijay received an enthusiastic welcome at the party headquarters, where many first-time MLAs gathered after their electoral debut.
During the session, discussions focused on electing the legislature party leader and outlining the conduct of MLAs in the Assembly. Party leaders also deliberated on strategies for government formation.
Earlier in the day, Vijay paid floral tributes to prominent ideological figures including Periyar E. V. Ramasamy, B. R. Ambedkar, K. Kamaraj, Velu Nachiyar, and Anjalai Ammal, whom the party regards as its guiding inspirations.
TVK leader Nanjil Sampath said that MLAs will present their victory certificates to Vijay and hold discussions on forming the government.
Addressing questions about the party falling short of a simple majority, Sampath expressed confidence that the leadership would secure the required support. “We are hopeful of a positive outcome, and developments are expected soon,” he said.
In the election results, TVK secured 108 seats, while the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) won 59 seats and the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) secured 47 seats.
