Vice President launches anti-drug campaign in Delhi University

Cautioning against drug abuse, Vice President C P Radhakrishnan, who is also Chancellor of Delhi University, said on Tuesday that drug-free youth easily acquire skills, promote entrepreneurship, and strengthen the nation by contributing to the country’s economic progress.
Making this assertion at the launching of the drug-free campus campaign initiated by Delhi University, he said the sole objective of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is to make India the world’s number one economy by 2047, and this is only possible through the efforts of the youth. The Vice President said the drug trade fuels narco-terrorism. This trade yields huge profits, but at the cost of society and humanity. Therefore, we all must stand against it.
In his address, he said Donald Trump is the first US president who has raised his voice against the world’s drug mafia. “I appreciate his efforts, because like our Prime Minister, he is one of the major leaders who have come forward against drugs,’ the Vice President said. He said drug-free youth are not only essential for personal and economic development but also for the prosperity and stability of our country.
Radhakrishnan said this campaign will make not only our campus but the entire country drug-free. He said that universities are not just centres of academic activity; they are places where values are shaped. On this occasion, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, who was present as a special guest, said drugs are neither freedom nor rebellion. Drug addiction is not cool at all.
