Vadodara gears up for PM Modi roadshow; preparations reviewed

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Vadodara on May 11 for the inauguration of a hostel project at Sardar Dham near Waghodia Chowkdi, with the city administration intensifying preparations for a large-scale roadshow planned later in the evening.
Ahead of the visit, Gujarat Minister of State for Home Harsh Sanghavi conducted a late-night review of arrangements in Vadodara. He held meetings with senior officials, including the police commissioner, municipal commissioner, district collector, range IG, local legislators and party office-bearers at the old airport premises before inspecting the proposed roadshow route.
According to officials, the roadshow is expected to begin from Gada Circle and conclude at Harni Airport, covering a key stretch of the city. Extensive preparations, including barricading, lighting and security deployment, have been underway for the past week.
Authorities estimate that nearly 40,000 people may attend the event. Local representatives and several social, educational, cultural, business and religious organisations have reportedly been mobilised to ensure public participation. Arrangements are also being made to bring supporters from nearby districts through bus services. To manage the crowd, around 16 viewing stages are expected to be installed along both sides of the route. Officials said the roadshow is likely to start around 7 pm and conclude within approximately 30 minutes.
The administration is also planning decorative lighting along the route to create a festive atmosphere. Special focus is being placed on crowd comfort due to the prevailing heat, with medical teams, ambulances, drinking water, ORS and temporary toilet facilities being arranged for attendees.
Security agencies, including SPG personnel, have also inspected the route and held coordination meetings with various departments to ensure smooth conduct of the VVIP movement.
