US Secretary Of State Marco Rubio To Visit Jaipur, Security Tightened Across City

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio is scheduled to visit Jaipur as part of his ongoing India tour, prompting heightened security arrangements and extensive preparations across the Rajasthan capital.
This will be Rubio’s first official visit to Jaipur and is being viewed as a significant diplomatic engagement amid deepening India-US strategic cooperation.
According to officials, Rubio is expected to arrive in Jaipur around 2 pm and depart early on May 26. During his stay, he is likely to visit the historic Amer Fort, one of Rajasthan’s most prominent heritage and tourist landmarks.
Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari is expected to welcome Rubio at Amer Fort, where preparations for a ceremonial reception are already underway at Jaleb Chowk.
Authorities said traditional Rajasthani folk artists and cultural troupes will perform during the welcome ceremony to showcase the state’s cultural heritage and tourism appeal.
In view of the high-profile visit, the Jaipur district administration, police and multiple security agencies have been placed on high alert.
Security reviews and inspections have been intensified at hotels, tourist destinations, VVIP movement routes and other sensitive public locations connected to Rubio’s itinerary.
Officials said special surveillance arrangements have been put in place across major tourist zones and strategic areas in the city.
The administration is also preparing a detailed traffic and crowd management plan to ensure smooth movement of the US delegation and minimise inconvenience for residents and tourists.
Meanwhile, civic agencies have accelerated cleanliness drives, lighting improvements, beautification works and infrastructure maintenance, especially around the Amer Palace area.
Marco Rubio is currently on a four-day visit to India from May 23 to 26, covering Kolkata, Agra, Jaipur and New Delhi.
His visit is focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation in trade, defence, energy and strategic affairs. Rubio is also expected to participate in key diplomatic engagements related to the Quad Foreign Ministers’ meeting in New Delhi.
Officials noted that Jaipur has increasingly become a preferred destination for visits by global dignitaries. Last year, US Vice President J.D. Vance also visited the city along with his family and toured several major tourist sites, including Amer Fort.
