US launches fresh strikes on Iranian Military targets amid rising Gulf tensions

The United States carried out fresh military strikes in southern Iran, targeting a military control site and intercepting several Iranian drones near the Strait of Hormuz, according to US officials. The operation reportedly focused on a drone control station in Bandar Abbas that American forces believed posed a threat to US troops and commercial shipping routes in the region.
The strikes come as tensions between Washington and Tehran continue despite ongoing diplomatic talks aimed at reducing conflict in the Middle East. US officials described the operation as “defensive” and said it was meant to protect American forces and maintain stability around the strategically important Strait of Hormuz, a key global oil shipping route.
Iran criticised the strikes and accused the US of violating ceasefire understandings. Reports also suggest that Iran responded with threats of retaliation, increasing fears of further escalation in the region. The conflict has already affected global oil markets, with crude prices rising due to uncertainty over the security of energy supplies passing through the Gulf.
The situation remains tense as international leaders continue to push for diplomatic negotiations to prevent a wider regional conflict.
