Unknown assailants kill two security officials in northwest Pakistan

Unidentified gunmen killed two security personnel in northwest Pakistan on Saturday, police said.
The incident occurred in the Tank district of restive Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, according to the police. The attackers opened fire at the security personnel of the Federal Constabulary (FC) who were off duty. The attackers managed to flee from the scene, police added. The victims succumbed to their injuries on the spot, while security forces launched a search operation in the area following the attack. Earlier on Thursday, nine Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) militants and four security officials were killed in a gunfight in Bajaur district, officials said.
No group has claimed responsibility for this attack; however, the Pakistan Government accuses the banned terror outfit TTP of carrying out attacks on civilians as well as Government infrastructure, especially in provinces bordering Afghanistan, after its ceasefire deal ended in November 2022.
