Ukraine Drone Attack Kills Four as Moscow Faces Largest Assault in Over a Year

At least four people were killed after a large-scale Ukrainian drone attack targeted several Russian regions, including Moscow, according to Russian authorities. The attack is being described as the biggest drone assault on the Russian capital in more than a year.
Officials said three people died in the Moscow region, while one person was killed in Russia’s Belgorod region. Several residential buildings and infrastructure facilities were also damaged during the strikes. Authorities reported that rescue teams were deployed to affected areas to search for victims and assess the damage.
Moscow regional officials stated that some houses and apartment buildings were hit, leading to injuries among civilians. Reports said around 12 people were injured, particularly in areas near Moscow’s oil refinery. However, authorities claimed that the refinery’s operational systems were not affected.
Russia’s Defence Ministry stated that air defence systems intercepted and destroyed hundreds of drones overnight. Moscow’s Sheremetyevo Airport also reported that drone debris had fallen on its premises, although no major damage was recorded.
The incident marks another escalation in the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict.
