Twisha Sharma’s last messages surface "I am trapped bro, bas tu mat phasna" after dowry death

Alleged final messages sent by Twisha Sharma before her death have surfaced online, intensifying the investigation into the suspected dowry death case in Bhopal.
The 33-year-old woman from Noida was found hanging at her matrimonial home in the Katara Hills area of Bhopal on May 12. According to police, Twisha had married Samarth Singh in December 2025 after the two reportedly met through a dating application in 2024.
Purported Instagram chats circulating on social media show Twisha expressing emotional distress in the days before her death. In one of the alleged messages, she wrote, “I am trapped bro. Bas tu mat phasna,” suggesting she felt stuck in her situation.
Following her death, Twisha’s family staged a protest outside the residence of Mohan Yadav, demanding a second autopsy and a deeper investigation into the circumstances surrounding the case.
Police have formed a Special Investigation Team to probe allegations against her husband Samarth Singh and his mother, a retired judge. An FIR has been registered under provisions related to dowry death and harassment.
Officials said the SIT is examining allegations of dowry harassment, physical assault and attempts to destroy evidence after Twisha’s death.
The post-mortem conducted at All India Institute of Medical Sciences Bhopal stated that the cause of death was hanging, but also noted simple injury marks on parts of her body.
Twisha’s family has refused to perform her last rites and is demanding that the body be taken to AIIMS Delhi for a second examination. Relatives claimed she wanted to leave Bhopal and return to Noida before her death.
Police records currently list her husband as absconding, while his anticipatory bail plea is scheduled to be heard in court.
