Train collision in Uttrakhand

Two loco trains carrying officers and workers collided inside a tunnel during shift change late Tuesday night at the TBM site of the under-construction THDC Vishnugad-Pipalkoti Hydroelectric Project at Pipalkoti in Chamoli district. A total of 109 labourers were present inside the tunnel at the time of the incident.
On receiving information about the incident, the chief minister, Pushkar Singh Dhami, spoke to the district magistrate, Chamoli, over the phone and obtained complete information about the incident and directed to provide better medical facilities to all the injured and refer them to higher hospitals as per requirement.
Upon receiving information about the accident, the DM, Gaurav Kumar and the superintendent of police, Surjeet Singh Panwar, immediately reached the District Hospital Gopeshwar and met the injured admitted there.
DM Kumar further informed that 70 workers had been brought to the District Hospital, Gopeshwar, for treatment. Of these, 66 were given first aid and sent home, while four were admitted at the district hospital. Twenty-one workers are said to have sustained injuries, the district administration said.
