Tragedy in Murshidabad: Train hits school van, two students among three dead

A tragic accident in West Bengal's Murshidabad district claimed the lives of three people, including two school students, after a local train collided with a school van on Friday morning. The incident took place between Karnasubarna railway station and the Gobindapur rail gate on the Azimganj–Katwa railway section.
According to officials, the school van was carrying several students when it was struck by the train while crossing the railway tracks. Apart from the two students who lost their lives, a local resident also died in the collision. Four other students sustained critical injuries and were rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment.
Railway and local authorities reached the accident site soon after the crash and launched rescue operations. An investigation has also been initiated to determine the exact cause of the accident.

The incident has sparked concern over safety measures at railway crossings, especially those used by school vehicles. Local residents and parents have demanded stronger safeguards and stricter enforcement of safety protocols to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
