Traffic curbs in North Delhi for major DDA event

Vehicular movement in several parts of North Delhi is expected to be affected on Sunday morning as traffic restrictions come into force for a large public event at the DDA Utsav Sthal, officials said.
According to the Delhi Traffic Police, an official function organised by the Delhi Development Authority is scheduled to take place at the venue. During the programme, several housing projects and new sections of the Delhi Metro are expected to be inaugurated.
Authorities estimate that around 25,000 people will attend the event. To manage the large gathering and ensure security arrangements, traffic restrictions will remain in place between 7.30 am and 2 pm in the surrounding areas.
Police said only vehicles carrying valid labels will be allowed on certain routes during the restricted period. Commuters have been advised to plan their journeys accordingly and avoid several key roads in North Delhi.
According to the advisory, Shanti Swaroop Tyagi Marg from Camp Chowk to Burari Chowk will remain closed for general traffic during the event. Similarly, Shah Alam Bandh Marg from the T-point at Shanti Swaroop Tyagi Marg to the Majlis Park red light will also remain shut to regular vehicles.
Traffic police have further advised commuters to avoid Arihant Marg, Shanti Swaroop Tyagi Marg, Shah Alam Bandh Marg and Outer Ring Road during the restricted hours to prevent congestion. Special traffic diversions have also been put in place around the venue. Vehicles coming from Kingsway Camp Chowk will not be allowed to move towards the event venue or towards Burari Chowk.
Instead, commuters travelling from that side have been advised to use the Burari flyover or the Mukundpur flyover as alternate routes. Traffic officials said these diversions are aimed at reducing congestion near the venue and ensuring smooth movement of emergency and authorised vehicles.
For those travelling along 100 Foota Burari Road, the advisory recommends using Bund Road from the Burari Metro Station. Motorists have been specifically asked to avoid Burari Chowk and Mukundpur Chowk during the restricted hours, as heavy traffic is expected in these areas.
Officials said the measures have been introduced to manage the large number of visitors expected at the event and to ensure safety and security arrangements around the venue.
The Delhi Traffic Police has urged commuters to follow traffic instructions, use alternate routes where possible and allow extra travel time on Sunday morning.
Authorities also appealed to residents of North Delhi to cooperate with traffic personnel deployed in the area and avoid unnecessary travel through restricted zones during the event period.
The advisory said normal traffic movement will be restored after the programme concludes and the crowd disperses later in the afternoon.
