TMCs Abhishek Banerjee booked after woman alleges loss of leg following treatment at Sebaashray Camp

Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Abhishek Banerjee and 10 others have been named in a police complaint filed by a woman who alleged that treatment received at a Sebaashray health camp ultimately led to the amputation of her left leg.
The complaint was lodged at Rabindranagar Police Station in South 24 Parganas by Malati Biswas, who claimed her condition worsened after receiving medicines for knee pain at the camp before she was referred to government hospitals, where doctors later amputated her leg. Authorities have begun examining the allegations.
According to the complaint, Biswas had visited the Sebaashray camp for treatment of osteoarthritis. She alleged that after taking the prescribed medicines, her health deteriorated, eventually requiring treatment at multiple hospitals before the amputation.
The complaint also states that her family unsuccessfully tried to contact the organisers following the incident. The allegations have not been established in court, and the investigation is ongoing.
The latest complaint adds to the scrutiny surrounding the Sebaashray health camps, which are already the subject of multiple FIRs alleging irregularities in their organisation and operation. Police are continuing their investigation, and no official finding has yet been made regarding the allegations in the latest complaint.
