Three separate firing incidents reported across city

Three separate firing incidents, allegedly linked to gangsters, were reported from different parts of the national Capital during the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday. Panic gripped parts of outer Delhi after two motorcycle-borne men opened fire outside RK Fitness on the Outer Ring Road in Paschim Vihar around 11 pm on Monday. No one was injured, but police recovered a live cartridge and registered a case. Hours later, a social media post purportedly claiming responsibility on behalf of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang surfaced, prompting an intensified probe.
The assailants rode past the gym on a motorcycle and fired two rounds in the air before fleeing. “A PCR call was received regarding gunshots. On reaching the spot, it was found that two bike-borne men had fired outside the gym and escaped,” a senior police officer said.
While no injuries were reported, the incident caused fear among local residents and shopkeepers in the busy area. A live cartridge was recovered during the initial inspection, and multiple teams have been formed to identify and trace the attackers, the officer added.
Soon after the incident, a post appeared on a Facebook account in the name of Randeep Malik, claiming responsibility for the firing. The post alleged that the attack was carried out after the gym owner failed to respond to calls made by the gang. It also carried a threat, warning of serious consequences if calls continued to be ignored. The message reads, “Next time call nahi uthaya to dharti se uthwa dunga tujhe jaise Nadir Shah ko uthaya tha… (If you do not pick up our call, you will be eliminated like Nadir Shah).”
The message referred to the killing of Nadir Shah, a Greater Kailash gym owner who was shot dead outside his gym in September 2024, and claimed loyalty to jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi.
It also mentioned the names of several known gang members, including Hashim Baba, Kala Rana, and Jitender Gogi.
Police are verifying the authenticity of the post. “We are aware of the social media message and are examining it. At this stage, it would be premature to comment on the involvement of any gang,” the senior officer said. He added that all possible angles, including extortion and rivalry, are being investigated.
Lawrence Bishnoi, currently lodged in Sabarmati Jail in Gujarat, is an accused in several high-profile cases, including the murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala and incidents of threats and firing outside the residence of actor Salman Khan.
Several members of his alleged network are lodged in Tihar Jail.
Investigators are scanning CCTV footage from the gym and nearby establishments to reconstruct the sequence of events and track the escape route of the shooters. Forensic teams have also examined the spot as part of the investigation.
In a possibly linked incident, two unidentified men on a motorcycle allegedly fired three to four rounds in the air outside a house in East Delhi’s West Vinod Nagar in the early hours of Tuesday. The firing was reported around midnight outside the residence of a man identified as Jitender Gupta. No injuries were reported there either.
Police said a PCR call alerted them to the second firing. An eyewitness told investigators that the suspects, wearing helmets, briefly stopped outside the house, appeared to record a video, and then the pillion rider fired in the air before fleeing. A crime team and a forensic science laboratory unit inspected the spot in West Vinod Nagar, though no empty cartridges or bullet fragments were found. Given the sensitivity of the case, two armed sentries have been deployed outside the complainant’s residence. Police confirmed that an earlier extortion-related complaint had already been registered at Madhu Vihar police station.
Investigators are now probing whether the two incidents are connected. Police said further action will be taken based on technical evidence, CCTV footage, and verification of the social media claim.
The third incident occurred around 1 am at a house in the Green Park Extension area of southwest Delhi’s Safdarjung Enclave. CCTV footage showed an unidentified person firing at the property before fleeing on a motorcycle.
