Three killed, two critically injured as speeding truck runs over pedestrians in Mirzapur

Three people were killed and two others suffered critical injuries after a speeding truck ran over them in Uttar Pradesh's Mirzapur district during the early hours of Thursday. The accident took place in Kundan village on the Varanasi–Shaktinagar highway, where the victims were reportedly walking along the roadside when the truck lost control and struck them.
Police said all five victims were rushed to a nearby hospital, where three were declared dead. The two injured are undergoing treatment and remain in critical condition. The bodies of the deceased have been sent for post-mortem examination, while police have informed their families.
Following the incident, local authorities launched an investigation to determine the cause of the crash. Efforts are underway to identify and apprehend the truck driver, who reportedly fled the scene after the accident.
