Thailand moves to deport Luthras
Thai authorities have begun formal proceedings to deport the Luthra brothers, Saurabh and Gaurav, back to India following their detention in Bangkok. The process comes after Indian law enforcement agencies requested action through an INTERPOL Blue Notice to gather information in connection with a criminal investigation. Thai immigration officials confirmed that the brothers were arrested under Section 12(7) of the Thai Immigration Act, and their visas were subsequently revoked, cancelling their legal status in Thailand.
The Luthra brothers, owners of the ill-fated Birch by Romeo Lane Club in Arpora, Goa, were transferred from Phuket to the Immigration Detention Centre (IDC) at Suan Phlu, Sathon, Bangkok, where they remain in custody. Thai authorities stated that the deportation process is underway, although the final schedule, including the date, time, and flight arrangements, awaits approval from the Commander authority. Indian officials are closely coordinating with their Thai counterparts to finalize the extradition.
The brothers had fled to Phuket the morning after the tragic December 6 fire at their club, which claimed 25 lives.
