TERI prepares for global sustainability summit

The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) on Tuesday hosted a pre-event press conference at the India Habitat Centre, setting the stage for the silver jubilee edition of the World Sustainable Development Summit (WSDS) 2026. Scheduled for 25–27 February, the summit aims to align India’s climate priorities with the upcoming BRICS summit, focusing on green finance and energy transition. Themed ‘Transformations: Vision, Voices, and Values’, the 25th edition marks a quarter-century of TERI’s influence on global policy.
Dr Vibha Dhawan, Director General of TERI, emphasised that the summit has evolved from “vision-setting” to achieving “measurable outcomes on the ground.” Ambassador Manjeev Singh Puri, Distinguished Fellow at TERI, highlighted the summit’s role in amplifying the Global South’s narrative. He noted that while major sustainability conferences often occur in New York or Geneva, WSDS “brings the conversation to where it matters most.”
Leena Nandan, former Secretary, MoEFCC, stressed the importance of policy coherence, stating that the silver jubilee edition would bring “futuristic concepts and the promise of hope.” The summit remains a vital science-policy platform, converging industry leaders and civil society to drive local action against global climate challenges. Other speakers who attended and addressed the session included Dr Shailly Kedia, Curator, WSDS & Director, TERI, and Sanjay Seth, Chairperson, Silver Jubilee Committee, WSDS & Senior Director, TERI.
