Teen stabbed to death in Mangolpuri

A Class 10 student was brutally stabbed to death in Delhi’s Mangolpuri area on Monday morning while he was on his way to appear for a pre-board examination.
The incident marked the fifth fatal stabbing incident reported in the capital in the past 40 days and intensified concerns over the city’s deteriorating law-and-order situation.
The victim, aged around 15-16 years, was found lying with a knife lodged in his head, a sight that police officers and locals described as horrific. The teenager had left home early in the morning for his school, carrying his examination materials, when he was attacked. He was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries. His family described him as a bright student with no known disputes.
The killing triggered panic and anger in the area, with a large crowd gathering at the hospital where the body was taken. Anticipating protests and possible unrest, police deployed additional personnel to maintain order. Senior officers said teams were working to identify the attackers and would soon find out the events leading to the murder.
This incident is the latest in a string of knife-related killings that have rocked Delhi in recent weeks. In the last 40 days alone, five people, including a minor, have lost their lives in stabbing attacks, raising sharp questions about public safety and policing in the national capital.
The previous day, on Sunday evening, a Class 9 student was stabbed to death in the Moti Nagar area. The teenager suffered multiple knife wounds to the chest and back. In the same attack, a 25-year-old man was seriously injured and remains under treatment.
About a week ago, a delivery boy was killed in a stabbing incident in the Acharya Niketan area of Mayur Vihar. According to police, the victim got into an argument with a group of minors, after which he was attacked with knives and fatally injured. The case highlighted concerns regarding the involvement of juveniles in violent crimes and the availability of sharp weapons.
The repeated incidents have sparked widespread concern among residents and parents, particularly as school-going children have become increasingly vulnerable to victimisation.
“Our children are not safe even when they are going to school to take exams. This is extremely frightening,” said a local resident near the Mangolpuri crime scene.
Police officials said investigations were underway in all recent cases. They assured that strict action would be taken against those responsible. “We are analysing CCTV footage from nearby areas. We are questioning local residents and tracking possible suspects. Multiple teams have been formed,” a senior police officer said, without sharing further details.
