Taranjit Sandhu appointed Delhi LG

A host of Governors and LGs, including those of Bihar and Delhi, were given new assignments late Thursday evening following the resignation of the Governor of West Bengal, CV Ananda Bose, days before the Assembly election in the State. Bose resigned on Thursday evening without disclosing the grounds of his resignation. Ladakh LG Kavinder Gupta also resigned on Thursday and was later appointed as Governor of Himachal Pradesh.
Governors reshuffled While former Delhi LG Vinai Kumar Saxena was appointed as the LG of Ladakh. With these changes, former Ambassador to the United States Taranjit Singh Sandhu was appointed as the new LG of Delhi.
The President of India accepted the resignation of Dr Bose as the Governor of West Bengal while appointing RN Ravi, Governor of Tamil Nadu, as the Governor of West Bengal. Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, Governor of Kerala, will discharge the functions of Governor of Tamil Nadu.
Meanwhile, Shiv Pratap Shukla, Governor of Himachal Pradesh being appointed as Governor of Telangana, while Jishnu Dev Varma, Governor of Telangana would take over as Governor of Maharashtra.
Nand Kishore Yadav was appointed as Governor of Nagaland, Lt. General (Retired) Syed Ata Hasnain was appointed as new Governor of Bihar who will replace Arif Mohammad Khan.
"The above appointments will take effect from the dates they will assume charge of their respective offices," read a press release from the Rashtrapati Bhavan.
West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee expressed shock at Bose's resignation and alleged that Bose may have resigned "under pressure" from Union Home Minister Amit Shah before the elections, expressing concern over the sudden development and her uncertainty regarding the motives.
The CM further alleged that although Shah informed her about Ravi replacing Bose, she was not consulted in the matter.
Banerjee maintained that such actions undermine the spirit of the Constitution and strike at the foundation of the country's federal structure.
