Tamil Nadu Election: Vijay Meets Winners As TVK Emerges Single Largest Party

Vijay arrived at the headquarters of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam in Chennai and met newly elected MLAs and party workers as the outfit emerged as the single largest party in the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections 2026.
Marking a major shift in the state’s political landscape, long dominated by the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam and All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, TVK secured 107–108 seats in the 234-member Assembly. The party is now expected to explore post-poll alliances to cross the majority mark and form the government.
Vijay’s visit to the party office comes amid crucial discussions on the next political steps, including alliance-building and government formation strategy. Party insiders indicated that meetings with newly elected representatives focused on consolidating support and planning the way forward.
Meanwhile, outgoing Chief Minister M. K. Stalin acknowledged the defeat and vowed a political comeback, stating that his party would regroup and return stronger. The DMK managed to secure around 59 seats, while the AIADMK finished with 47 seats. The Indian National Congress won a handful of seats in the election.
The results also highlighted the emergence of new political narratives, with younger candidates and grassroots leaders playing a key role in TVK’s success. Political observers see this mandate as a sign of changing voter preferences, particularly among youth and first-time voters.
As the state moves towards government formation, all eyes remain on Vijay and his next steps in stitching together the numbers required to take charge in Tamil Nadu.
