Tamil Nadu CM Vijay arrives in Delhi for key meetings with PM Modi, top leaders

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay arrived in New Delhi on Wednesday for his first official visit to the national capital after assuming office earlier this month.
During the visit, Vijay is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi, senior Union ministers and top Congress leaders, underlining the growing political significance of Tamil Nadu’s newly formed coalition government.
According to sources, Vijay is expected to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi at around 4:30 pm on Wednesday. Meetings with President Droupadi Murmu, Vice-President CP Radhakrishnan, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman are also part of his itinerary.
Vijay took oath as Chief Minister on May 10 after his Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) emerged as the single largest party in the Assembly elections by winning 108 seats in the 234-member House.
The government was formed with the support of Congress, CPI, CPI(M), VCK and IUML, marking Tamil Nadu’s first coalition government in several decades.
Sources said the Chief Minister is expected to submit a detailed memorandum to the Centre seeking support on several pending issues. These include expansion of the Chennai Metro Rail project, release of GST compensation dues, allocation of education funds under PMSRI, supply of fertilisers for the upcoming kharif season and release of pending funds under various Central schemes.
Tamil Nadu minister Aadhav Arjuna and other senior ministers are accompanying Vijay during the visit. The delegation is expected to hold multiple meetings aimed at strengthening Centre-state coordination on development and infrastructure projects.
Political observers are closely watching the visit as it marks Vijay’s first major engagement with the Central leadership since becoming Chief Minister and reflects the evolving political dynamics in Tamil Nadu.
