Sultanpur double murder: Government school headmaster, wife found hacked to death on school campus

A government school headmaster and his wife, who was the principal of a private school they ran, were allegedly hacked to death at the school premises in Uttar Pradesh’s Sultanpur district, police said on Tuesday.
The victims were identified as Mukesh Singh, 45, and his wife Vinita, 42. The couple lived on the campus of their private school in Kumbhi Dadiya village under Kadipur Kotwali police station limits.
The murders came to light on Tuesday morning when school employees arrived and found the couple lying in pools of blood. Sultanpur Superintendent of Police Vineet Jaiswal said it was not immediately clear whether the killings occurred on Monday night or early Tuesday.
According to the preliminary investigation, Vinita was attacked inside a room with an axe, spade and possibly other weapons. Mukesh was found dead around 150 metres away from the room. Police recovered an axe, spade and knife from the scene.
Kadipur Circle Officer Vinay Gautam and local police reached the spot and began investigating the double murder. The bodies were sent for post-mortem examination, while the family was informed. Further legal proceedings will follow after the arrival of the relatives.
The couple are survived by their 20-year-old son, Abhyuday, who is pursuing his studies at a university in Delhi. Mukesh had established the private educational institution in the village in 2002 and had been living there with his wife since then.
Fresh update: Police are examining the circumstances and possible motive behind the double murder. As of Tuesday morning, no arrest or clear motive had been reported, with investigators continuing to gather evidence from the school premises.
