Student stabbed over Instagram row; 2 held

A student of Anglo Arabic School was stabbed outside an examination centre near Ajmeri Gate in central Delhi on March 18.
According to police, the attack stemmed from a social media dispute. Two accused, including a juvenile, were apprehended within hours while trying to flee the city.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) Rohit Rajbir said the arrests were made the same evening. “The accused were apprehended at around 8.30 PM, soon after the FIR was registered at about 6.50 PM.
Acting on technical surveillance and ground intelligence, the team tracked and intercepted them near Old Delhi Railway Station while they were attempting to escape,” he said. The victim had gone to appear for an examination at the Andhra Education Society. Shortly after stepping out of the centre, he was attacked with a sharp-edged weapon. He sustained serious injuries and was rushed to Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Hospital. Police said he is now stable and has been discharged.
A case under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita was registered at the IP Estate police station, and an investigation was launched immediately. Police identified the accused as Sufiyan (19), a resident of Sadar Bazar, and a 17-year-old juvenile.
Both were traced through CCTV footage and technical inputs within a short span of time.
Investigators said the attack was not sudden but the result of an ongoing dispute. “There was a prior disagreement arising out of negative comments exchanged on Instagram,” the DCP said.
The online exchanges escalated into a confrontation on March 16, two days before the incident. Tensions remained unresolved.
