Speeding dumper kills security guard

A 25-year-old security guard was killed, and another one was injured after a speeding dumper rammed into a motorcycle in the Sonia Vihar area of northeast Delhi. The accident took place near the Sonia Vihar Zero Pusta on Wednesday morning. The dumper driver fled the spot after the incident. Police have launched a search operation to trace the vehicle and the driver.
The deceased has been identified as Ayush Pratap, aged 25 years, while the injured victim’s name is Rajkumar. Both were residents of Chauhan Patti in Sonia Vihar and were employed as security guards in the Jakhira area of West Delhi. Police said the two were returning home together on a motorcycle after finishing their duty when the accident occurred.
According to initial information, the collision took place when the victims reached near Zero Pusta in Sonia Vihar.
A fast-moving dumper hit their motorcycle with great force, causing both riders to be thrown onto the road. Ayush suffered a severe head injury in the impact, while Rajkumar sustained a fracture in his hand.
Police said a call regarding the accident was received in the morning, following which a police team rushed to the spot. Both injured men were immediately shifted to Guru Teg Bahadur (GTB) Hospital for treatment. Doctors declared Ayush Pratap brought dead, while Rajkumar was admitted for further medical care. His condition is stated to be stable.
Eyewitnesses present at the scene told police that the dumper was being driven at a very high speed. They said the heavy vehicle hit the motorcycle head-on, due to which Ayush was flung several feet away from the point of impact. Locals alleged that reckless driving by heavy vehicles is common on the stretch, especially during early morning hours.
“The dumper was at a very high speed and hit the bike with great force. The rider was thrown far away and suffered a serious head injury,” said a local resident who witnessed the incident. He added that the driver did not stop after the accident and escaped from the spot.
