Speaker launches AI-enabled chatbot

Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta on Thursday launched AI-enabled chatbot ‘Vidhan Sathi’, an AI-enabled chatbot, ahead of the upcoming Budget Session. The app was launched on the occasion of the Hindu New Year and the auspicious festival of Navratri. Gupta said the Artificial Intelligence (AI) tool will function as a legislative research assistant for members of the House.
“The Vidhan Sathi app can be accessed by all MLAs of the Assembly. This will be the country’s first legislative assembly to have such an AI-enabled tool,” he added. The platform is available in both Hindi and English, and also offers voice-enabled features for ease of use during proceedings. The app can be accessed via QR code.
The chatbot is integrated with existing AI tools and will assist legislators in fact-checking, accessing parliamentary rules, and making debates more tech-friendly, the Speaker said.
Describing the app as a step towards a “tech-friendly” legislative Assembly, he said it draws upon the Rules of Procedure, past debates, committee reports, and legislative records, ensuring that the information provided is relevant and institutionally grounded.
The support tool will be incorporated with the National e-Vidhan Sabha (NeVA) platform soon, he added. Its primary objective is not merely to provide access to documents, but to assist Members in analysing complex issues and presenting well-informed, evidence-based arguments in the House.
Gupta also informed that the Budget Session of the Eighth Delhi Legislative Assembly will commence from 23 March (Monday), with the agenda to be finalised in the Business Advisory Committee on Friday.
The session will include key legislative business such as discussions on reports of the Committee of Privileges, the Public Accounts Committee, and matters relating to CAG reports, along with opportunities for Members to raise issues and participate in short-duration discussions. Further, the full rendition of “Vande Mataram” will also form part of the proceedings, reinforcing a sense of collective purpose and institutional spirit, Gupta informed.
