South Delhi–Gurgaon travel time may drop from 35 minutes to 5 minutes with new 4 km corridor project

A proposed 4-km infrastructure corridor aimed at easing congestion between South Delhi and Gurugram is expected to significantly reduce travel time on one of the busiest commuter stretches in the National Capital Region.
According to reports, the project will create a signal-free, high-speed connectivity corridor designed to bypass major bottlenecks that currently slow down traffic between key South Delhi localities and Gurgaon. Once completed, travel time on the stretch could reportedly drop from around 35 minutes to just 5 minutes.
The corridor is part of ongoing efforts to decongest arterial routes connecting Delhi and Gurugram, where commuters often face severe delays during peak hours due to traffic signals, intersections and high vehicle density.
Officials said the project is expected to improve mobility for daily commuters, including office-goers and airport-bound traffic, by providing a smoother and faster alternative route. The plan also aligns with broader infrastructure upgrades being undertaken to strengthen Delhi-NCR connectivity.
Similar projects in the region, including elevated roads and express corridors, have previously been proposed to reduce travel time and ease pressure on existing highways such as NH-48 and connecting urban roads.
Authorities are expected to move ahead with detailed planning and execution timelines following approvals, with the aim of improving long-term traffic flow between Delhi and Gurugram.
