Son held for killing father, uncle over money, job

Delhi Police have solved a double murder case in Dwarka, arresting a man accused of killing his father and uncle, allegedly for financial gain and a government job.
The accused, identified as Ishwar, was arrested for the murder of his father, Devender Kumar, 50, and uncle Amit, 48, inside a flat in Uttam Nagar. Police said the crime was driven by greed for nearly Rs 50 lakh and the prospect of securing a government job on compassionate grounds.
Deputy Commissioner of Police, Dwarka, Kushal Pal Singh, said police received a call about a disturbance on the night of April 3. “Around 11.30 pm, information was received about a quarrel. The next day, both men were found dead, and the accused was missing,” he said.
According to police, the bodies were discovered inside the flat under suspicious circumstances. Initial examination did not reveal any visible external injuries. However, the postmortem report later confirmed that both victims died due to severe internal injuries caused by physical assault.
Police officials said Devender Kumar was employed with ESIC and had around Rs 50 lakh in his provident fund account. During the probe, police found that the accused was aware that in the event of his father’s death, he could receive the money and also be considered for a government job under compassionate grounds. Police said Ishwar allegedly planned the killings with this motive.
On the night of the incident, neighbours reported hearing a heated argument inside the house. The landlord, Naresh Kumar, reached the flat after receiving information and found Ishwar present at the scene. The situation appeared to have been resolved at that time. However, the following day, both Devender and Amit were found dead, while Ishwar had disappeared.
A police team launched an investigation using technical surveillance and local inputs. Ishwar was later traced and apprehended. During interrogation, the accused told police that he had consumed alcohol on the night of the incident. He got into an argument with his father and uncle, which escalated into a violent assault. Police said he beat both men severely, leading to their deaths.
Officials described the crime as a result of greed and the breakdown of family relations. The absence of external injuries initially made the case complex, but forensic findings helped establish the cause of death.
Further investigation is underway to reconstruct the sequence of events and gather additional evidence.
