Social Welfare Minister hoists Tricolour

Delhi Social Welfare Minister Ravinder Indraj Singh on Monday hoisted the national flag at the Chief Minister’s Jan Seva Sadan along with Chief Minister Rekha Gupta to mark the 77th Republic Day.
The minister also participated in multiple Republic Day programmes across the Bawana Assembly constituency, where he paid tribute to martyrs and the architects of the Constitution and highlighted the key achievements of the Centre, the Delhi government, and the Social Welfare Department.
The flag-hoisting ceremony at the Chief Minister’s Jan Seva Sadan marked one of the key official events of the day. From there, the Social Welfare Minister moved to various local programmes organised across Bawana, interacting with residents and extending Republic Day greetings. Senior party workers, local representatives, and citizens from diverse backgrounds attended the events, which saw strong public participation.
The minister said Republic Day is not merely a ceremonial occasion but a reminder of the country’s constitutional journey and democratic responsibilities. He paid homage to freedom fighters and remembered Dr B. R. Ambedkar, the chief architect of the Constitution, for laying the foundation of equality, justice, and dignity for all citizens. He said the Constitution has empowered the poor, marginalised, and vulnerable sections by guaranteeing rights and opportunities.
The minister participated in Republic Day celebrations held at Sanskruti Apartment in Sector-28, Upvan Apartment in Sector-28, Rohini Heights Apartment in Sector-29, pockets of Rohini Sectors 23 and 24, and Shahbad Dairy. Cultural programmes by children, patriotic songs, and tricolour-themed decorations marked the events, creating a festive atmosphere and reinforcing the spirit of unity and nationalism. Residents gathered in large numbers, with many events turning into community celebrations.
Highlighting governance priorities, Ravinder Indraj Singh said the Central and Delhi governments are aligned toward a developed India. He mentioned initiatives for farmer welfare, women’s empowerment, social security, and support for the underprivileged that strengthen society. He noted Delhi’s role as a capital in achieving the national development vision.
The Social Welfare Minister outlined key initiatives of his department, stressing that the government is focusing on empowering senior citizens and persons with disabilities. He said assistive devices are being provided under schemes such as the Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana and the Sugamya Sahayak Yojana to improve mobility and quality of life. He also said plans are underway to develop new old-age homes for senior citizens and persons with mental disabilities.
He added that hostels are being developed for students from poor backgrounds to ensure access to education. The minister stated that scholarships are being timely disbursed so students avoid financial hurdles in their studies, and schemes are implemented with transparency and efficiency.
