Yoga offers solutions to global health challenges: Pradhan at DU event

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Sunday said yoga offers solutions to many of the health challenges confronting the world today, from mental health concerns to issues of physical fitness.
Pradhan, who attended the 12th International Day of Yoga event at Delhi University’s South Campus as the chief guest, said yoga, one of the oldest traditions of Indian civilisation, has reached every corner of the world over the last decade under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“The world today is facing numerous health challenges, ranging from mental health concerns to issues of physical fitness. The science of yoga offers solutions to many of these problems,” he said. The minister urged people to devote at least 10 minutes every day to yoga, whether in the morning or before going to bed, and adopt it as a year-round practice.
A healthy individual, he said, is better equipped to contribute to society and serve humanity.
Pradhan said yoga is gradually becoming an integral part of people’s lives and credited Modi with successfully positioning the ancient Indian practice on the global stage in the 21st century.
Congratulating Delhi University on its improved performance in the QS World University Rankings 2027, Pradhan noted that the institution had moved from the 600-plus bracket some years ago to rank 322 and was poised for further progress.
“As India advances towards becoming a Viksit Bharat, the University of Delhi will play a significant leadership role and should aspire to be among the world’s top 100 universities in the coming years,” he said.
Speaking to reporters after the programme, the minister also expressed confidence in the conduct of the NEET examination, saying he had full faith in the National Testing Agency, state governments, district administrations and the education community.
