Police mark Yoga Day with force-wide participation

Delhi Police celebrated the International Day of Yoga 2026 with a large-scale yoga session at the Police Headquarters on Jai Singh Road. On the occasion, senior officers and personnel gathered to promote physical fitness, mental well-being, and stress management through the ancient Indian practice.
The main programme was held on the lawns of the Police Headquarters and was attended by Delhi Police Commissioner Satish Golcha as the chief guest.
Senior officers, including Special Commissioners, Joint Commissioners, Additional Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners and personnel from different units of the force, participated in the event.
The session was organised by the Welfare Division of Delhi Police under the supervision of Special Commissioner of Police (Welfare) Atul Katiyar. Officials said the event reflected the force’s continued focus on the health and well-being of its personnel, who routinely perform demanding duties under challenging circumstances.
Yoga instructors from the Delhi Police conducted the programme in accordance with the Common Yoga Protocol. Participants performed a series of yoga postures, breathing exercises and meditation practices aimed at improving flexibility, reducing stress, and enhancing overall physical and mental health.
The event formed part of the nationwide observance of International Day of Yoga, which is celebrated every year on June 21. The day was adopted by the United Nations in 2014 following a proposal by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and is observed across the world to highlight the benefits of yoga in promoting a balanced and healthy lifestyle.
Delhi Police officials said the enthusiastic turnout demonstrated the force’s commitment to maintaining discipline, fitness, and emotional resilience. They noted that yoga has become an important tool for preventive healthcare and stress management, particularly for police personnel who work under constant pressure and demanding operational conditions.
Senior officers attending the programme encouraged personnel to make yoga a regular part of their daily routine. They said the practice not only contributes to better health but also helps improve concentration, endurance, and professional efficiency. The event at Police Headquarters was accompanied by similar programmes across Delhi Police districts and specialised units. Officers and staff at various locations participated in yoga sessions organised as part of the force-wide observance of the day.
