West Bengal Elections 2026: EC Orders Repoll in 15 Booths in Magrahat Paschim, Diamond Harbour

The Election Commission has ordered a repoll in 15 polling booths across West Bengal’s South 24 Parganas district, covering the Magrahat Paschim and Diamond Harbour Assembly constituencies.

According to officials, repolling will take place at 11 booths in Magrahat Paschim and four booths in Diamond Harbour on May 2, from 7 AM to 6 PM.

The affected polling stations had originally voted on April 29 during the second phase of the Assembly elections. However, the Election Commission declared the polling at these booths void under provisions of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, necessitating fresh voting.

Authorities have not detailed specific reasons for the repoll but such decisions are typically taken in cases of procedural lapses, disturbances, or complaints affecting the integrity of the voting process.

Security arrangements are expected to be tightened at all identified polling stations to ensure free and fair voting during the repoll exercise.

The development comes amid heightened political tensions in the state ahead of the counting of votes scheduled for May 4.
