Supreme Court denies bail to YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra in Pakistan espionage case

The Supreme Court refused to grant bail to YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra, who is facing allegations of espionage and sharing sensitive information with operatives linked to Pakistan's intelligence network. The case has attracted significant attention due to concerns over national security and the alleged misuse of social media platforms for intelligence gathering.
Malhotra, known for running a travel-focused YouTube channel, was arrested after investigators alleged that she maintained contact with individuals linked to Pakistani intelligence agencies and shared sensitive information with them through various digital communication platforms. Authorities have invoked provisions of the Official Secrets Act along with other charges related to activities allegedly affecting the sovereignty and security of the country.
During the proceedings, investigative agencies opposed the bail plea, arguing that Malhotra was not merely a passive participant but an active conspirator in the alleged espionage network. The agencies cited digital evidence, communication records and ongoing investigations into her contacts and activities.
Earlier, courts had also declined to grant her bail, noting the serious nature of the allegations. Judicial observations in previous proceedings highlighted evidence collected by investigators, including alleged attempts to delete communication records and continued contact with suspected Pakistani operatives.
The prosecution has maintained that the matter involves issues of national security and requires thorough investigation. Malhotra remains in judicial custody as the probe into the alleged espionage network continues.
