Subrata Gupta appointed West Bengal CM advisor in new Government reshuffle

Retired IAS officer Subrata Gupta has been appointed as advisor to West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, according to an official notification issued on Saturday.
Gupta, a 1990-batch IAS officer, had previously served as the Special Roll Observer for the Election Commission during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise conducted ahead of the recently concluded Assembly elections in the State.
Officials said Gupta’s extensive administrative experience is expected to assist the new government in policy coordination and governance-related decision-making.
In a separate appointment, the West Bengal government also named IAS officer Shantanu Bala as the Chief Minister’s Private Secretary as part of a broader administrative reshuffle following the change in government.
Bala, a 2017-batch IAS officer, previously served as the Additional District Magistrate of South 24 Parganas before taking up the new assignment.
Officials stated that both appointments are aimed at strengthening the Chief Minister’s Office and ensuring smoother administrative functioning under the new government setup.
The officers have been directed to assume charge immediately as per the official notifications issued by the state administration.
