Sex Racket Busted in Arunachal Pradesh’s Lower Dibang Valley, 4 Women Rescued

A sex racket was busted during a late-night police raid at a resort in Arunachal Pradesh’s Lower Dibang Valley district, leading to the rescue of four women, officials said.
Acting on specific intelligence inputs, a team from the Roing Police Station carried out a surprise operation at a resort in the Meka area on Sunday night. Four women, reportedly brought from Assam’s Tinsukia region, were rescued during the raid, police confirmed.
According to officials, the resort owner, manager and several customers were taken into custody after being found allegedly involved in prostitution activities at the premises.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the racket involved trafficking women from outside the state, while most of the clients were local residents. Police had received multiple complaints from the public in recent days regarding suspected illegal activities in the area.
A case has been registered under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, and further investigation is underway.
Authorities said efforts are ongoing to identify other individuals linked to the racket and dismantle the broader network.
Meanwhile, Arunachal Pradesh Home Minister Mama Natung praised the police team for their swift action, reiterating the government’s zero-tolerance stance against illegal activities and exploitation.
He also noted that the establishment was operating without a valid licence, adding that strict legal action would follow.
