Rajya Sabha polls on June 18: NDA may lose seat, Congress set for gains as TVK eyes entry

The Election Commission has announced that Rajya Sabha elections for 26 seats across 12 states will be held on June 18, setting the stage for possible changes in the political balance of the Upper House.
Current projections indicate that the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) could see a slight reduction in its tally, while the Congress-led opposition may improve its position.
According to political estimates based on current Assembly numbers, the NDA, which presently holds 18 of the seats going to polls, is expected to secure 17 seats.
The Congress-led bloc could improve its strength, while the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) may also gain representation.
The elections are also drawing attention because Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), led by actor-turned-politician Vijay, is expected to make its Rajya Sabha debut through the Tamil Nadu bypoll.
The possible entry of TVK into Parliament would mark another significant milestone for the party after its rise in Tamil Nadu politics.
Voting will take place for seats in states including Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Jharkhand.
Political observers believe the results could influence legislative dynamics in Parliament and shape future political strategies among major alliances.
